Technical Writer


Job Description

Our fast-growing software development services firm works closely with life science clients. We employ technical and documentation specialists skilled in the fields of science and technology. We are currently seeking a professional Technical Writer to join this expanding team. The successful applicant will be responsible for creating technical documents and manuals, explaining complex information in a clear and concise manner, and working with scientific and software development engineering staff to ensure accuracy of product descriptions and development efforts.


Responsibilities:
  • Plan, develop, organize, write, and edit SDLC documentation, including: software requirements, software designs, operational procedures, manuals, etc.
  • Research, develop and document technical design specifications and test scripts.
  • Produce electronic documentation in addition to hard copy manuals.
  • Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation.
  • Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style of content.
  • Manage updates and revisions to technical literature.

Requirements:
  • B.A. in Humanities with a significant writing element is a minimum educational requirement or similar work experience
  • Proven experience working in a technical writing position.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to write for multiple audiences, in explanatory and procedural styles.
  • Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking.
  • Collaborative personality with the ability to work independently.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, and Jama a plus.
  • Experience working in a consulting environment is a plus.
